OUR STRIVING…

We are a fellowship of believers who hear God calling us in our baptism to be committed members of the Christ-centered community, servants of the Word that gives life, witnesses to a love which has overcome even the powers of death. We are dedicated to glorifying God and to bringing whole persons to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, to help them live creative lives of Christian discipleship in their homes and community.

We are a diverse group united by our common faith, recognizing that people experience, worship, and serve God in many different ways. Our aim is to be an inviting people, making room in our church family for those of many backgrounds and theological perspectives.

We Value Spiritual Diversity

We come from every conceivable denominational background, and respect the traditions from which people come to Flemington Baptist Church. We do not all think alike, and we welcome the variety of theological viewpoints that typify a Baptist congregation. Yet, we unite around our loyalty to Christ and the spirit of love which hallmarks a Christian Church.

We Believe Everyone Should Be Heard

The congregation sets the agenda for the church and makes the decisions that guide the church’s mission and ministry. Our pastor and the laity share the leadership of the church and its mission. Our pastor provides spiritual direction and reflection and Biblical focus, so that the congregation is enabled to do God’s will.

We Believe in Mission

Flemington Baptist Church places heavy emphasis on the national and international mission programs of the American Baptist Churches USA, and on mission programs in the local community.

We Value the Old and the Young

Flemington Baptist Church has been around for more than 200 years. The church celebrated its bicentennial in 1998. Many FBC families are second, third and fourth generation members. The congregation includes members of all ages and has a vibrant, active Sunday School and youth programs that is educating and encouraging young believers in their faith journey.

We Love Those Inside and Outside Our Congregation

We’re big enough to offer a full range of educational and musical programs for children, youth and adults. We’re big enough to have a gifted core of leaders to give the church guidance and direction. We’re big enough to share the work and support one another. We’re big enough but there is always room to grow and we warmly welcome and encourage visitors and new members.

We’re small enough to recognize and warmly welcome visitors to our worship. We’re small enough to care about individual needs, and provide support to people in a highly personal way. We’re small enough to have close relationships with one another and to be an extended family.
